SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger released the statement below following the California Department of Education’s announcement of the allocation of $883 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (Recovery Act) State Fiscal Stabilization Funding (SFSF) to local education agencies for categorical program restoration. California was the first state in the nation to receive SFSF funding and it was the first state to begin immediately passing these dollars on to local education entities to protect teacher’s jobs.

Today’s allocation represents the remainder of the $2.56 billion in SFSF funds for K-12 education received by the state thus far as part of the Recovery Act.
