Santa Barbara is a better place because of his tireless service and we will never forget his dedication to public safety. On behalf of all Californians, we send our thoughts and prayers to Jarrod’s family, friends and fellow officers.â€
Martinez, 30, died on October 29 after his motorcycle collided with another vehicle while he was on-duty. He graduated from the CHP Academy on October 31, 2008. Martinez is survived by his wife Trish and daughter Julia.
In honor of Officer Martinez, Capitol flags will be flown at half-staff.
