Tue, 09 Mar 2010 # 22:09:32 -0500 EST # California News # No CommentSACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today directed the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) to retain all files on sex offender parolees going forward and to make as much information as possible available to the public. Today’s action comes after an immediate review of CDCR’s policy on parolee file retention.
“The current practice of not keeping information on sex offenders in California is unacceptable,” said Governor Schwarzenegger.
“It is in the best interest of public safety to retain all information on these individuals and to make as much information as possible available and transparent. I have directed my Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation to end this practice and immediately begin keeping all sex offender parolee files.”
