TALAHASSEE, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — The American economy is sustained by business owners large and small who invested their money because they saw the potential of our great nation. Companies from around the world should continue flocking here, but instead they are being deterred by a nation facing a trillion dollar deficit and a federal government with an insatiable appetite for more debt and intrusion into the lives of its citizens.

What we need in the White House is a leader who understands that the government’s role is to create the conditions that help create private-sector jobs. We need a President who understands that the government can only give Americans the opportunity to work hard and live their version of the American dream, but government cannot do the work for them.

In my first year in office as Governor, we streamlined government, cut red-tape and created a business and taxpayer-friendly climate in Florida. As a result, our state’s unemployment rate dropped by more than 2.1 percentage points last year, the second biggest drop of any state in the nation, and we created 141,500 private-sector jobs.

The steps we are taking in Florida are working. The time is now to elect a leader who will make the right choices in order to grow jobs and get Americans back to work.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — Governor Rick Scott today joined business, military, veteran and workforce leaders during the annual Florida National Guard Day at the Capitol to launch a year-long effort aimed at connecting returning National Guardsmen and other veterans with job openings as Florida’s economy continues to improve.

“These courageous men and women have served us with honor, and it is our turn to ensure veterans who are returning to civilian life have jobs when they come home,” said Governor Scott. “We are calling on Florida’s employers to give veterans strong consideration for available positions. With their proven leadership, skills and discipline, hiring Florida’s heroes is a smart move for businesses and the right thing to do for our veterans and their families.”

While the unemployment rate for Florida’s overall veteran population is slightly lower than that of the population at large, the Florida National Guard estimates approximately 17 percent of returning soldiers and airmen are looking for work. In partnership with Florida’s leading business organizations, the Hiring Florida’s Heroes campaign aims to promote the availability of these returning veterans to Florida’s employers and connect employers with a variety of resources to assist in the hiring process.

Employers interested in hiring veterans are encouraged to call the Employ Florida Marketplace hotline at (866) 352-2345 to connect with a workforce specialist in their area. The specialists can assist employers by posting job listings, assembling lists of qualified candidates and answering questions about available training options among other services. Employers also can visit the Employ Florida Vets web portal at veterans.employflorida.com to post job listings and view resumes.

“Florida’s returning soldiers and airmen possess strong leadership skills, work with integrity and are solid private-sector job candidates,” said Mark Wilson, president and CEO of the Florida Chamber of Commerce. “The Florida Chamber encourages private-sector businesses to honor these talented veterans by hiring our heroes.”

Additionally, the state’s workforce system — consisting of Workforce Florida Inc., the Department of Economic Opportunity, the state’s 24 Regional Workforce Boards and nearly 100 One-Stop Career Centers — is working closely with the Florida National Guard, the state Department of Military Affairs and the Florida Department of Veterans’ Affairs to provide employment services to veterans who are looking for work and help employers access this exceptional talent pool. Since January 2011, workforce system partners have assisted 12,776 veterans with finding jobs, including 1,237 in the first three weeks of the new year.

“In my travels around the state, I have heard from many employers who appreciate the value veterans bring as employees. They want to do their part to support Florida’s military men and women,” said Sen. Don Gaetz, (R – Ft. Walton Beach). “With our economy improving, businesses growing and veterans returning from service overseas, now is the ideal time to ensure our state and business leaders are working together to get these men and women back to work here at home.”

Senator Gaetz has been a champion for efforts to assist Florida’s veterans and their families. Current legislation includes SB 922/HB 977, sponsored by Sen. Mike Bennett (R – Bradenton) and co-sponsored by Sen. Gaetz and others, which passed the Senate today. SB 922 creates a $10,000 tax credit for employers who hire eligible Florida National Guardsmen, assists veterans’ employment efforts by expanding preferences given in state contracting to veteran-owned businesses, and requires that qualified veterans be admitted to any Florida College System institution of their choosing.

Business leaders attending the campaign kickoff — including the Florida Chamber, the Florida Retail Federation, Associated Industries of Florida, Florida United Businesses Association, the National Association of Independent Business, the Florida Council of 100, Florida Restaurant and Lodging Association, the Florida Bankers Association and the Manufacturers Association of Florida ¬— have committed to sharing the Hiring Florida’s Heroes message with members and promoting the value of veterans as employees through social media and other outreach efforts during the year-long campaign. The campaign also will help raise awareness of recently expanded federal tax credits of up to $9,600 per veteran hired through the Vow to Hire Heroes Act of 2011.

For more information, please visit veterans.employflorida.com or call the Employ Florida Marketplace hotline toll-free at (866) 352-2345.

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — Florida Governor Rick Scott announced today that Florida’s unemployment rate went down again in the last month of 2011 to 9.9 percent. A total of 5,100 new private-sector jobs were also added in December, solidifying Florida’s status as one of the nation’s leaders in job creation last year.

Since Governor Scott took office, the state’s unemployment rate has dropped 2.1 percentage points, from a high of 12 percent in December 2010, to the first single-digit unemployment rate in more than two-and-a-half years in December 2011.

“A good way to judge the direction of Florida’s economy is to look at the percentage of people who were unemployed one year ago and now have jobs,” said Governor’s Scott. “Today that number is 2.1 percentage points lower than it was in 2010, meaning more of Florida’s families are finding jobs. It is my goal to give every Floridian who wants a job the opportunity to get to work.”

Since January 2011, more than 12 private sector jobs have been created for every public-sector job lost, and Florida businesses have created 141,500 private-sector jobs with an average of 12,800 jobs per month.

MIAMI, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — Have you ever attended a Sports Combine, or even know what a Combine is? Well if your answer is no, don't worry you soon will, maybe even have your own Combine, Combine automobile that is. Combine Motor Works, Inc., a Miami based company, is now looking to partner with the right auto manufacturer to help bring the Combine 4.0 auto into reality.

What's in a name? Practically everything is in a products name. Sports Combines are very well known today, the word Combine is synonymous with words like Athletics, Speed, Performance and Agility, just to name a few. A Sports Combine is one of the most exciting events today connected with sports. There are now Combines in all sports, the main and most recognized Combine today is the annual NFL Combine which has a direct link to the NFL Draft. Whether it's a youth Combine, High School, College or Professional Combine, the main event is always the 40 yard dash. "The Combine 40" is a very familiar term and will give instant name recognition to the Combine 4.0 automobile.

According to Emory Williams, company President and CEO, "We were in talks with a foreign manufacturer and very close to a deal, but the group wasn't fully understanding the magnitude of what we had on the table. They were looking to manufacture a weak version of what we had presented to them, not realizing the full concept of Combines and the class of consumers the auto would attract by its name alone. Knowing this would not be the right union, we decided to walk away and continue the search."

Combine Motor Works has secured trademark rights to the name and is looking to have one of the finest automobiles in the world, nothing less. With the exposure of athletic Combines today, the "Combine 4.0" will have an immediate consumer following which will include athletes of all sports, professional and non-professional, die-hard sports fans, and the consumer who buys what's new just to make a statement.

Athletes work and train very hard preparing for their presence at the Combines, we are putting forth the same efforts to make the Combine 4.0 automobile one of the finest on the market today. "Great driving dynamics, good weight distribution and maneuverability are some of the areas we will pay close attention to, not to mention a roomy plush interior, comfort and style," added Williams.

Being available in two design classes, sports coupe and SUV, the Combine 4.0 will be tagged as the "True American Sports Car."

Says Williams "We will now continue making contacts with various manufacturers, looking for the right union. We know that once certain consumers see the Combine 4.0 on the car lot, they won't leave without it."

TAVARES, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — If you've always wanted a close-up view of a boat like James Bond's or an exciting ride in a seaplane, cruise over to the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival on Lake Dora at Wooton Park in Tavares on March 23, 24, and 25, 2012. Those are just a couple of the highlights planned for the 25th anniversary of the largest antique and classic boat show on America's East Coast.

"The festival definitely will have multiple facets," said Terry Fiest, chairman for the 2012 event. "We'll have many different types of antique, vintage, and classic boats, including Glasspars similar to ones featured in James Bond movies and the actual boats used in the 1981 movie On Golden Pond, which starred Henry Fonda. We also are planning an 80-vendor flea market that will feature many nautical items."

In addition to hundreds of vessels on display in Wooten Park, the festival will offer boat and seaplane rides on Lake Dora. Ground transportation also will have a role during the three-day event with the Central Florida Woody Car Club on hand to showcase vintage automobiles. And rides aboard an old-fashioned steam train will delight the entire family.

"All modes of transportation will be represented this year," Fiest said. "We also plan to have a rail speedster on display, which is a small car that runs on railroad tracks."

The Sunnyland Chapter of the Antique and Classic Boat Society represents all of Florida and is the largest ACBS chapter with more than 640 members. The chapter 's annual festival is considered one of the best in the country, drawing as many as 10,000 visitors from all over the U.S. and Canada.

Several specialty boat clubs will be represented during the festival including Florida's Glasspar and Jersey Skiff clubs. Fiest said many members of the Classic Race Boat Association also plan to stay for the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival after they complete a racing event on March 17-18 on Lake Dora.

Admission to the Sunnyland Antique Boat Festival is $5 per day or $10 for all three days. Free parking will be available at the Tavares City Garage at 200 N. Sinclair Ave. For more information, please visit the Sunnyland Chapter's web site at http://acbs-sunnyland.org .

Online registration forms for the festival are now available.

HOLLYWOOD, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — Smith McKenna, LLC announced this week that 2012 is the time to invest in silver. Stephen M. Smith, managing member Smith McKenna, has 20 plus years of experience in commodity-market analysis and advises that silver will emerge as king.

"It's the only place to be," says Smith. "Silver will dominate the commodity market in 2012."

Smith strongly believes that political and economic changes have a dynamic impact on prices and in this time of global economic advancements there will be a mega shift in the metal market. Silver will dictate market direction.

"As the global manufacturing machine gets into high gear it will sift through silver inventories at a rate never seen before," adds Smith.

According to the Silver Institute, silver is indispensable. From industrial use to its role in decoration, technology, photography and medicine, its unique properties of strength, malleability, reflectivity and conductivity make it an irreplaceable force in the global market.

Smith adds that it is advisable to diversify risk by investing in precious metals and Smith McKenna offers some of the lowest spreads in the commodities investing market.

Smith is scheduled to appear on Global Talk Radio, the world news and talk superstation, where he will address issues such as the explosion in the demand for metals; investing in metals in 2012; China's economic growth explosion; and more.

CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. /Florida Newswire/ — With the expectation of small business loan financing to remain bleak into the upcoming holiday season, merchants and small business owners will be seeking out alternative means of working capital for the Christmas rush, expected to result in an increased demand for merchant cash advances from financing sources like BusinessCashAdvance.com.

A gap in the credit market has made financing for many small business owners a challenge. Accessing credit for payroll, inventory, taxes, and other necessary expenses is absolutely vital to many of the small businesses looking to capitalize on the increased consumer spending during the holiday season.

Expected seasonal shopping trends create an even more urgent need for fast short term working capital. "Merchants expand store hours, stock more products, and increase their marketing budgets for the holiday season. Traditional forms of business financing, loans and lines of credit are not readily available. Our merchant cash advance program provides a solution," Explained Larry Yazen, merchant cash advance financing specialist.

The merchant cash advance program offers small business owners the ability to apply and get business funding up to $500,000 in a very short time. The cash advance program is not a loan. Financing is based on future sales making the cash advance program perfect for businesses that are counting on increased seasonal spending in their stores. Unlike small business loans, even high risk businesses and businesses with poor credit can obtain funds.

BusinessCashAdvance.com has prepared its business for this seasons expected increase in merchant financing requests and is dedicated to providing business owners with a viable alternative to small business loans.

About BusinessCashAdvance:

Founded by financial professionals, BusinessCashAdvance.com provides cash advances for small business.
