Nominated by Their Students, Teachers from Nassau and Suffolk Counties Receive Classroom Funding and Celebrations

LONG ISLAND, N.Y., April 27, 2026 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Doherty Enterprises-owned Applebee’s® Neighborhood Grill & Bar restaurants on Long Island are proud to announce the winners of the 10th annual Above and ‘BEE’yond Teacher Essay Contest, recognizing outstanding educators nominated by their students. Selected through heartfelt student nominations, two teachers from Suffolk County and one from Nassau County will each receive a $500 classroom sponsorship check for the 2026–2027 school year, along with an end-of-year class party at their local Applebee’s®.*

2026 Long Island Winners:

  • Graham Otton, New Hyde Park Memorial High School (New Hyde Park, Nassau County)
  • Olberding, West Middle School (Lindenhurst, Suffolk County)
  • Judith Lemire, Longwood High School (Riverhead, Suffolk County)

Through this annual contest, students are encouraged to recognize the educators who have made a lasting impact on their academic journey by submitting essays in person at participating locations.
