Ca. Gov. Schwarzenegger Appoints Two to Solano County Superior Court

SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointments of John B. Ellis and Timmy P. Kam to judgeships in the Solano County Superior Court. Ellis, 48, of Elk Grove, has served as a chief deputy district attorney since April 2009 and deputy district attorney from 1996 to April 2009 for the Solano County District Attorney’s Office. Prior to that, he was an associate with Larson and Burnham from 1993 to 1996.

Ellis earned a Juris Doctorate degree from Boston College Law School, a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of California, San Francisco and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Davis. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on September 23, 2008. Ellis is a Republican.

Kam, 41, of Davis, has served as a deputy district attorney for the Solano County District Attorney’s Office since 2001. Prior to that, he was a deputy district attorney for the Shasta County District Attorney’s Office from 1996 to 2001. Kam earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Davis School of Law and a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of California, Davis. He fills the vacancy created by the conversion of a court commissioner position on September 23, 2008. Kam is a Republican.

The compensation for each position is $178,789.
