Ca. Gov. Schwarzenegger Issues Proclamation for Special Election to Fill Vacancy in 37th Senate District

SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger issued the following proclamation today, declaring June 8, 2010 the date for a special election in California’s 37th Senate District (which includes Riverside County and all or portions of the cities of Banning, Corona, Desert Hot Springs, Hemet, La Quinta, Lake Elsinore, Moreno Valley, Norco, Palm Desert, Palm Springs, Perris, Rancho Mirage, San Jacinto and Sun City), to elect a Senator to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of John J. Benoit:

SPECIAL ELECTION PROCLAMATION
BY THE GOVERNOR OF THE STATE OF CALIFORNIA

I, ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER, Governor of the State of California, do hereby proclaim and order that a special election shall be held on the 8th day of June, 2010 within the 37th Senate District of the State to fill the vacancy in the office of Senator from said district resulting from the resignation of John J. Benoit.

IN WITNESS WHEREOF I have hereunto set my hand and caused the Great Seal of the State of California to be affixed this 10th day of December, 2009.
