Dr. Michael F. Uschold joins Semantic Arts as a Senior Ontology Consultant

FORT COLLINS, Colo. (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) — Today Dr. Michael F. Uschold of Seattle, Washington joined Semantic Arts (www.semanticarts.com) as a Senior Ontology Consultant. Michael is an internationally recognized expert with over two decades experience in developing and transitioning semantic technology from academia to industry.

He pioneered the field of ontology engineering, co-authoring the first paper (Ontologies: Principles, Methods and Applications – http://journals.cambridge.org/action/displayAbstract?fromPage=online&aid=4071848 ) and giving the first tutorial on the topic in 1995. This leveraged the work he did in creating the influential “Enterprise Ontology” ( http://citeseerx.ist.psu.edu/viewdoc/summary?doi=10.1.1.39.3379 ).

Most recently, he worked on a team that developed a semantic advertising platform that substantially increased revenue. Before that he spent 11 years at Boeing defining, leading and participating in numerous projects applying semantic technology to enterprise challenges.

“We’re very excited that Michael is joining us. He brings a great deal of depth to our ability to deliver on our client projects that have a major ontology development component. We’ve got a solid backlog and are able to put him to work right away. He helped out with our recent training course and it was a pleasure to work with him – he fits right in and has our work ethic and a good bedside manner with clients,” said Dave McComb, President, Semantic Arts.

“With their proven track record, Semantic Arts is a natural choice for me to continue my lifelong passion for putting semantic technology to work,” said Michael Uschold
