Geek Club Books Releases Educational Webisode for Inclusive Classrooms on Autism and Friendship

James Sullivan host of Bluebee TeeVee

SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Jun 15, 2016 (SEND2PRESS NEWSWIRE) -- Geek Club Books, Inc., an autism nonprofit, today announced the release of their latest educational webisode, "The Friendship Game" to teach elementary school children how to be good friends to their autistic peers. This is the fourth webisode in the free Bluebee TeeVee autism series for the inclusive classroom featuring an autistic host and a Bluebee Pal co-host (Most Innovative Educational Toy 2016).

"We need to show kids the best ways to engage with their autistic peers," said James Sullivan, member of Geek Club Books autistic team, writer, filmmaker and host of Bluebee TeeVee, "so we made a game show episode. It's a fun way to teach kids how to be inclusive and reach out to those of us on the autism spectrum."

The webisode comes with an episode guide and friendship kit for parents and educators with additional resources, classroom activities, and a model "Lunch Buddy Program" for schools.

"The friendship kit is a case study of a lunch buddy program developed by Lisa Smith of Quirks and Chaos for her autistic son," said Jodi Murphy, founder of Geek Club Books. "So successful it was featured in People Magazine. Most autism spectrum programs rarely get noticed by the mainstream but Lisa and her community created something special. We're hoping it inspires other communities to implement similar programs."
