SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the following appointments: First, Floyd Hayhurst, 51, of Ontario, has been reappointed to the Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training. He has served as deputy sheriff for the Los Angeles County Sheriffâ€™s Department since 1982. Hayhurst also serves as vice president of the Association for Los Angeles Deputy Sheriffs and president of the Southern California Alliance of Law Enforcement. This position requires Senate confirmation and there is no salary. Hayhurst is a Republican.
Christopher Meyer, 56, of Granite Bay, has been appointed senior chief of facilities, construction and management for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation. Since 1999, he has worked as president for PM/CM Services. Prior to that, Meyer was the vice president for ICF Kaiser Engineers from 1990 to 1998, senior construction manager for CRSS Construction from 1984 to 1990, a lecturer for California State University, Chico from 1983 to 1984 and a volunteer carpenter for VISTA Volunteer from 1977 to 1978. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in construction management from California State University, Chico. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $164,880. Meyer is a decline-to-state.
Kurt Wilson, 35, of Sacramento, has been appointed as executive director of the Correction Standards Authority for the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR). Since 2007, he has served as the chief of external affairs in the Office of Public and Employee Communications for CDCR. Wilson was director of the Office of Public Safety and Violence Prevention for the city of San Bernardino from 2006 to 2007 and chief executive officer of Wilson Schools from 2000 to 2006. He served as the mayor pro tempore for the city of Rialto from 2002 to 2004. Additionally, Wilson served on the city council from 2000 to 2002, was the planning commissioner from 1996 to 2000 and Simson Center commissioner from 1992 to1996. This position does not require Senate confirmation and the compensation is $105,060. Wilson is a Democrat.
