SACRAMENTO, Calif. /California Newswire/ — Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger today announced the appointments of Deborah J. Chuang and Walter P. Schwarm to judgeships in the Orange County Superior Court. Chuang, 38, of Santa Ana, has served as a deputy attorney general for the California Attorney General’s Office since 1997. Prior to that, she was an associate for Rutan & Tucker LLP from 1996 to 1997.
She earned a Juris Doctorate degree from the University of California, Berkeley Boalt Hall School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Duke University. She fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge John M. Watson. Chuang is registered decline-to-state.
Schwarm, 45, of Laguna Niguel, has served as a deputy district attorney and assistant district attorney for the Orange County District Attorney’s Office since 1989. He earned a Juris Doctorate degree from California Western School of Law and a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Irvine. Schwarm fills the vacancy created by the retirement of Judge William Evans. Schwarm is a Republican.
The compensation for each position is $178,789.
