Nava Receives Perfect Score on 2009 Congress of California Seniors Legislature Report Card

SACRAMENTO /California Newswire/ — The Congress of California Seniors has released their California Legislative Report Card and Assemblymember Pedro Nava received a 100 percent rating for his efforts supporting efforts to protect California’s senior citizens. “The Congress of California Seniors has a long tradition of advocating for seniors,” said Mr. Nava, “I am honored to receive the distinction of a perfect score on their report card.”

Assemblymember Pedro NavaThe report examined how Legislators voted on a variety of issues covering health and insurance reforms, nursing home care, training of homecare workers, affordable housing, and consumer protection. Among those bills on the score card was Assemblymember Nava’s Assembly Bill 566 which sought to protect mobile home residents against abusive and unfair practices that are increasingly impact seniors and moderate to low income individuals throughout the state.

The California Congress of Seniors is a broad-based coalition of senior centers and residential facilities, women’s clubs, tenant and homeowners associations, faith based organizations, community service groups, trade union retirees, retired federal/state/local government employee organizations, and other advocacy groups.
